Black Cats and Pumpkins Book Buddies

Bring along your favourite book, you can always join in with the theme and bring along your favourite black cat book and/or black cat toy to help celebrate National Black Cat Day. Feel free to dress up. There will be face painiting too so you can get into the black cat and pumpkin theme.

Book Buddies events are perfect for nervous and less confident readers whilst being great for those who love and are passionate about reading. The cats love being read to and it is beautiful to see children and adults spending time reading to our Retirement Village residents. So book your space and enjoy spending an afternoon of reading, crafts, and having a cuppa and a cake in the company of cats.

Children under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. 

Please advise at checkout how many adults and children are attending that are not reading to the cats.

There will also be craft activities and also learning to become a shelter volunteer workshop which you can get involved in whilst not reading to the cats.

The gift shop will be open and the Paws for a Cuppa cafe will be serving hot and cold drinks along with cakes.

This is a outdoors event, if the weather is wet then reading will take place inside the retirement village cottages and craft activities will be in the staff room. Please ensure you wear and have waterproof and warm clothing with you. Some discovered a hot water bottle helps keep you warm and the cats seem to like snuggling up to them too whilst your reading to them.

Parking is on Hillside House Nursery car park which is 2 doors down from the shelter and a short walk to the shelter along the road. This is due to there being very limited space on our car park and we request those needing to park on the shelter car park to indicate when booking or by emailing sales@shropshirecatrescue.org.uk.
