Autumn has well and truely arrived. BUT... we can't have our in-person Halloween event this year. So we're bringing it to you instead!
Our Halloween Book Buddies event usually takes place in our shelter and offices, with black cats, pumpkins, books and plenty of Halloween crafting fun. This year, those rooms are needed for something even more important: they're currently full of cats receiving treatment before they can find their new homes.
Whilst we're sad that this means we can't welcome you to our usual event, we're turning things around and bringing the fun online.

From black cats and pumpkins to autumn adventures and Halloween mischief, join in the fun with our Spooky Season Photo Challenge.
How it works
Three categories. Three prizes.
Once entries close, our SCR trustees will put on their judging hats and choose their favourite across three different categories.
Each category has its own theme and its own little prize. So whether you're a Halloween hero, a pumpkin enthusiast or autumnophile... there’s a chance for your photo to come out on top.
Entry is free.
We're sorry that we can't welcome you all as usual to the shelter this month. Despite our shelter and offices being too full to host our event in person, we still wanted to celebrate autumn with you.
If you'd like to make an optional donation, we've suggested £3 as a small contribution or enter your own amount. Every donation helps us provide food, shelter, veterinary treatment and care for cats at Shropshire Cat Rescue while they wait for their new homes.
DID YOU KNOW
Last year we admitted 258 cats and 7 guinea pigs into the shelter. Out of those 77 were abandoned or strays and 40 were born on site.
We also authorised vets to treat 73 stray cats with the full cost being met by Shropshire Cat Rescue. We also have issued neutering vouchers for 117 cats at a reduced rate, and worked with 12 colonies ranging in cat numbers from 5 all the way up to 35.

Rules
Volunteers/staff are excluded from entering. No costumes required.
Please do not use fancy dress on cats. Entries which include cats dressed up in anyway won't be accepted (you can dress yourself up if you want to). No professional photography needed. The brief is loose so that everyone can enter. Just have fun and show us how you're getting into the spooky autumn season mood.
Please only submit photographs that you have taken yourself or have permission to use. Please submit one photo per person. Please do not submit AI generated images. Entries submitted outside of the rules will not be accepted.

- To enter our photo competition, you must have a UK postal address and be 18 or over.
Entries can be submitted by an adult (parent/guardian). The Responsible Adult will be required to approve the entry and agree to these Rules on behalf of the entrant, by way of a checkbox in the online form. The Responsible Adult must provide their own contact and personal details (not a child’s), must seek parental permission and if requested, provide evidence of permission in the event of an enquiry or complaint.
Photo usage: By submitting your photo, you grant Shropshire Cat Rescue permission to reproduce, edit, publish and share the image for purposes connected with this competition and the promotion of Shropshire Cat Rescue, including on our website, social media channels and other promotional materials. You retain ownership of your photograph.
- Please submit one photo per person.
- Please do not submit AI-generated images.
- Entries must be an original piece.
- Please only submit photographs that you have taken yourself or have permission to use. By submitting a photograph, you confirm that you have the necessary rights and permissions to do so.
- Entries can only be accepted online via our form; postal entries or entries sent over email will not be read or considered.
- Entries submitted outside of the rules will not be accepted.
There will only be one winner chosen per category (3 categories only) after the competition has closed. The 3 winners will be notified via the email contact details provided only. We will not attempt to contact you via social media.
For physical prizes, please note:
The physical prizes can be collected in person at our shelter at an arranged time.
The Sponsorship prize winner will be asked to share their details so that the sponsorship package and following updates can be sent via post and email.
